The End of an Era...

Once upon a Time in a classroom far far away....

...There lived a group of weird teenagers who decided to make dresses out of rubbish and recyclables and they had a strenuous time of it. And the reason for this, the almighty Junk Kouture!
These three girls worked for three months solid, filing, gluing and sewing their days away! They toiled, and fought, and moaned, but now, "it's over, it's done!" they cry. Junk Kouture has been completed and the Fashion Show will be taking place in no less than 3 days...
The dress is completed and the countdown is on! We are merely awaiting a chance to display our fabulous dress designing and enter the National competition.
I will be throwing up a few photos on here within the next day or two! :)

And they lived happily ever after with their recycled dress...

New Goal in Life...

Yes, I say Gaisce funny, get used to it! :P

As the heading would suggest, we started registering for Gaisce this week and Ms. McG is booking our hike so we've been having fun choosing activities which we will complete over the next 26 weeks to earn one of the most prestigious awards teenagers in Ireland can achieve. I'm not really sure if I've to do it though because I did it last year but something got lost in translation so I might have to start all over again! Oh the drama. Ah well, it was a bit of craic at the time, just the stress of finding out if I have to do it is a bit much!

We also have started trying to finalise our second round of Work Experience... I've been sending emails left, right and centre but to no avail so far, but I'm sure I'll get sorted sooner or later!

Also, if you want a pretty good blog to read and keep you entertained, my beloved friend Ciara is keeping a good little record of our interesting TY life. :)

Anywho that's all from me!

Christmas countdown: 25 days, you guys!

You stay classy, Sandiego! ;) Slán!

Typical TY Week :)

Hey-ho Hey-ho It's off to work we go...

Busy week here in Woolies! Projects are all in full flight... We're still ticking away at the mountain of work that is Junk Kouture... Geography... Formula 1 in Schools... Orchestra... Choir.... Work Experience...
So to cheer everyone up and distract them, here's some random Christmas facts:

Ø  The biggest present ever was The Statue of Liberty.
Ø  The most sold Christmas Song is “Do They Know It’s Christmas”
Ø  The world’s biggest Christmas cracker is 181 foot, 11 inch long and 11 foot, 9 inch high and was made in Australia.
Ø  Every year, the people in the town of Gavle, in Sweden build the world’s largest goat out of straw.

31 Days to Christmas!

I hope you all enjoyed that little pick me up!

Bond... Debating... Christmas Carols....

I'll take it shaken, not stirred...

Hello there and welcome to my blog again! I'm sorry I haven't been here in a while... Too busy having fun! :P We've had a busy fortnight here in St. Wolstan's.

Last week, we went to the Odeon Cinemas in Naas for a Mini Company workshop, but Orla (the woman giving the workshop) ended up going into hospital that morning, so guess what? We got to watch James Bond, Skyfall for free! :D It was amazing! :)

This week Ciara, Aoibhinn, and myself along with Ms. B, entered into an Irish Debating competition with Gael Linn and we were working go dian during the week to perfect our arguments and all the worked payed off as last night when we finally went to the competition we won!!! :D IT was brilliant! We were all extremely excited and can't wait for the next round which should be within the next few weeks.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Aaaaaahhhhhh!! It's nearly Christmas, guys! :D Only 39 days but it feels like it's going to fly!!! Today in orchestra with Ms. M, we started organising which songs we will be playing at this years Carol Service. I'm a little bit Christmas obsessed so this really just fanned the flames of my tacky, twinkly, tinselly addiction!

Yeah so that's it for today and hopefully things will be back to normal and I'kll be postinbg regularly again from now on! :)

So Long, Farewell, auf Wiedersen, Adieu!

This Is Halloween....

Here's Johnny!

Mwahahahahaha!
Mwahahahahaha!
Happy Hallowe'en!

Well today was our Hallowe'en Fancy Dress and everyone made a fantastic effort! We all looked fabulous, if I may say so myself... :)
As TY's, we were given the theme  of Zombies and in-keeping with that theme, I dressed up as a Corpse Bride, wearing my Mammy's lovely wedding dress! Haha! I also had a husband... Orlaith K, but she may have been injured in a small rolling pin accident after our wedding... Nothing to do with me of course! :P
It was a brilliant day, especially for Síocháin as both of the costume winners for our year were from our amazing class. :D Shannon and Zoe, both won, and they both really deserved it! They had brilliant outfits.

Anywho! That's all from me, but here's a song and a picture to keep you entertained! :)

So that's it for today! I may be a-posting over the midterm but if not, Happy Hallowe'en!

2+2=Maths Week!

If you have a load of stools and a few cows how many legs are there, oh and don't forget the milk-maids....

So it's Math's Week... We're all feeling very mathematical...
Every morning we're greeted by a brain-melting puzzzle, designed to mess with our heads before we've even woken up properly! It's an evil trick by teachers to make us think! :P Haha, well it's not quite that bad. They're just asking a lot at 10 past 9!

Apart from perfecting our maths puzzle skills, we've been doing a project on a famous mathematician in our maths class. I chose to do mine on Blaise Pascal, because we had just done Pascal's Triangle in class and he seemed like a pretty cool guy! He's a super famous man especially in the field of geometry, which he taught himself, from the age of 12... I'm older than he was and even with the help of teachers and books, etc., I can't master geometry let alone to the level Pascal did!

Ah well we can't all be that special I suppose... My (as of yet hidden) talents must lie somewhere far away from maths, maybe playing the triangle or something else I do... Haha!

Well anyway! Other than that... Between Mini Company, Junk Kouture and everything else, my imagination is being sucked dry (in a good way!), so that's it for today!

Christmas countdown: 66 days, you guys!

Until next time, stay classy! Slán! :)

See Below...

73 Days People!

I started putting up Christmas decorations in Work Experience, so my obsession has intensified....

Fourth Friday... :O

Hello and Welcome to the Fourth Friday of TY :)

Friday, the 12th of October: A.K.A. the fourth Friday of this Transition Year! It's been a brilliant month so far but it's gone so fast!! :( It's unbelievable how much we've done and just how close we've gotten.... I had never really talked to some people in my class before and now I could chat to any of them, no bother! :P

We've been watching a movie in Spanish for the past two weeks and it's really good! It's called "El Bola" and it's quite a serious and dramatic film with a few fairly scary scenes and a bit of child abuse. :/ It sounds really weird but it's really well-made and is kind of like a thriller! We've stopped at an unbelievable cliff-hanger, but sadly Ms. M, won't let us watch any more until next week. :'(

Sin é don Inniú! Slán :)

What time is it Mr. Wolf...?

Yet another day in Transition Year...

Hey there! Today I will be diving into the great fun that is my Technology project, among others! :) I have started making a clock in technology class out of purple plastic. I'm the only one in the class with the deeply coveted purple, because I'm special! :P Really it's because as soon as the plastic choices were on the table I dove for it! :O But that's not the point, the point is the clock.... We all had to draw the measurements for our clock two weeks ago in our Technology class with Mr. W, we then started sawing and filing away the excess plastic to get the right shape. I now have the pentagon and semicircle shape of the clock and just have to put in the actual hands and "clock" part of it. I'm extremely proud of my little purple baby, and it's possibly a little bit sad (so I've been told). But I felt that my little clock had to be shared with the rest of the world and that's what I've done with this blog! I hope you all enjoyed it! :D

CHRISTMAS UPDATE: 74 days everybody, get shopping!

Well that's it dear readers... Slán!

(p.s. the title is purple in honour of my clock... )

Friendship Week :)

Heeeey Yaaaaa!

Hello All! Welcome to another edition of my blog! It's Friendship Week here in St. Wolstan's and today is the last day of it and the most loved day... Funwalk!
Each year has a different colour to dress up as and us TYs are yellow. Here in Síocháin we've decided to each be a block of Lego! We're dancing to Hey Ya by Outkast. It's quite the dance, if I may say so myself! :P I slept in this morning and almost didn't make it to school on time, all because I was up last night painting my beautiful Lego box that I shall be a-wearing today :D
We may look a bit simple all dressed up in huge boxes doing a mad dance from Just Dance but we're having great craic which is the main thing! ;)
We'll be performing our dance and then heading off to indicate the route that all the other years will follow. So we'll probably miss some of the other class' performances :'( But  suppose we'll see photos and videos anyway! That might make up for it! :P

81 days to Christmas!

That's all for now and I'll talk about the walk later! Slán! :)

Nm, nm, just chillin' in Carlingford ;)

'Tis the Friday after Carlingford and all through the school, TYs are tired because it was so cool :)

I think my whole year is actually ready to kill me, along with most of the people living/working in Carlingford... Awkward. Let's just say I wasn't the most reserved person on the trip! ;) It was actually so brilliant! Or to use my own word that people are sick of: SAVAGE! No, in all seriousness, it was amazing!
And whatever the teachers say about teenagers it's not just because of the amazing instructors.... ;) They were all actually so sound, and you know, quite a handsome bunch of lads.... Then there was the lovable older one and the nice ex-wollie! The activities were also really good! Especially the Zorbing we did with Chris. :') And the Nightwalk with Andy! And almost everything else, like the high ropes, low ropes, challenge course, laser guns, kayaking and everything else! :D
Song of the trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYLQXz0D9LU But I think everyone slightly hates it now... :/
So that's the story of the monumental amount of fun we had in Carlingford...
It was so sad to leave... But we all know that someday we might convince our very nice and obliging teachers to bring us back... PLEASE. :)

P.S. I'll be keeping everyone informed on how many days it is to Christmas... Here it goes: 95. :D

So that's the scéal of Carlingford and now everyone knows how amazing the trip actually was... Slán! :')

That Friday Feeling! :P

Welcome all to the second week of my TY...

We've just finished our second week of TY and it's going great! We're really starting to really get into it. We're all still super tired from Wednesday (results!) night, so my post might not be as imaginative as last week's! :P
This week has been fairly eventful...
-Monday: We continued our "Junk Kouture" projects on Monday morning in our double art class and we're all feeling like proud mammies seeing it really start to take shape, come together and start to actually look like a piece of clothing! :D My group, Cliódhna, Alanna and I, have almost finished the paper mache bodice part of our dress and it's looking well!
In P.E. we started doing team-building exercises. We did the infamous "skateboard challenge" which I'm sure provided Mr. L, our teacher with plenty of amusement with our strange methods... :)
In Science we got into our groups for the BT Young Scientist Project and began to brainstorm and choose ideas and experiments to work on for the competition coming up in January.
-Tuesday: Second class on Tuesday morning means technology with Mr. W! We're making key rings from plastic using a lot of the equipment in the room. And in Home Ec. we were picking up from where we left off on our J.K. projects from Art the day before.
-Wednesday: On Wednesday we had a lovely treat, courtesy of our year head, Mrs. L. As we were getting our results at one o'clock that day she decided to surprise us with a lie-in, telling us we didn't have to come into school until half past twelve! :D It was a great start to a very nervous day... But we got our results and I know that I at least was surprised (in a good way!) at how I did! Turns out that supervised study actually works!
Thank God. :')
-Thursday: On Thursday, everyone was really tired from the night out on Wednesday and it seemed like the teachers had a mutual agreement to take it easy on us, as our brains weren't up to much strenuous work! :) We had a nice day, watching a film, "La Bola", in our Spanish class and brainstorming our ideas for mini-company later on in the day. :)
-Friday: Talk about getting that Friday Feeling! We really just spent the day today winding down into the weekend and talking about all our wonderful plans for Carlingford on Monday! We've made a class shopping list for all the goodies we're going to bring on the trip and starrting making plans for which rooms we'll be sleeping in and who we'll be sharing with! All in all, it was a good day and really got us pumped and ready for our bonding trip at 7 o'clock Monday morning! :)

Have a nice weekend, everybody! Slán! :)

And so it begins... :D

Welcome to my TY blog, live from IT! ;)

We're a week and a day into TY here in Wollies and it's already brilliant! :) We've already settled into our new classes and started doing a few projects. We started making our "Junk Kouture" after the past week of designing and stressing over picking what to make it out of and what to have it look like! :P We also started a new religion project on the Millennium Development Goals and a geography project in which we're planning a twelve month trip around the world!
Last Wednesday we had no classes and so we had a day of fun in three workshops which helped us to really settle into our new classes and have an overall fun day. :) We hadn a great time in our Positive Party learning how to keep positive even when we don't feel confident and happy all through song and dance! In our Social Development workshop we learned how our body language, tone of voice and eye contact effect all of our social situations and we learned many other socially important lessons. In our Etiquette workshop, we learned many tips from the two ladies about our health, make up and what to wear while on Work Experience.
All in all it's been a brilliant week and I can't wait until the beginning of the next one and the rest of our fantastic year! :D

That's all for now, folks! Until next time... Slán! :)
